With St. Patty’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to blend up this bright green matcha frappuccino & celebrate!
As we’re getting closer to St. Patty’s day, our news feeds are slowly filling with all things green. I love seeing the creative ways to make foods green for this Irish holiday, so I thought I would try my hand at it!
I love a good Frappuccino just as much as the next guy, but all that syrup-y goodness (which is delicious, don’t get me wrong!) can sometimes get the best of me. So when I was trying to come up with a green food to make, I knew I could make a homemade version of the ever-popular Green Tea Crème Frappuccino.

So what the heck is matcha?! While matcha everything has taken over coffee shops & our Instagram feeds, some may not know what exactly this bright green powder is. Matcha is made from stoneground green tea leaves & it originated from Japan. Because you are actually consuming the entire green tea leaf, your body is getting a lot more antioxidants that you would get from brewing a hot cup.
Some love matcha for is energy boost. While one cup of matcha contains 34 mg of caffeine, which is 1/3 of the caffeine content of a cup of coffee or equal to half a shot of espresso, it still packs an energy punch. People say it makes them feel less jittery & not have those yucky caffeine crashes, but still provides alertness.

Here’s a great article that gives a little more info on matcha.
A popular way to drink matcha is whisked into heated milk or water to form a latte of sorts, but there are tons of creative ways to consume your matcha. Whether its in the form of a smoothie, energy bites, dessert, ice cream, you name it! Of course, I think you should have it in the form of my Frappuccino, but I’m biased J
There are studies that do report that when tea is combined with cow’s milk the antioxidants become bound & cannot be used by the body. So that is why I decided to make my Frappuccino with almond milk.
